Canada Use Scene Shot In Northumberland, England For Their Tourism Film

Footage of a girl walking along the Canada coastline on a still day has been revealed to have been filmed in Northumberland, England.

The section of film was part of a $25m promotional effort that was commissioned by the tourist committee in Alberta. It was intended to show the best features of the Alberta province in Canada and increase levels of Canada holidays in the region. However, when Peter Bailey, a Canadian who wanted to take his boat there after seeing the video, he realised that something was not right. He initially thought it was one of Canada’s many lakes but on closer inspection he discovered it was actually the North Sea. Knowing that Alberta was landlocked and its centre was around 400 miles from the nearest coast, Bailey took the matter further.
The tourist board in Northumberland couldn’t help but see the funny side of the incident when they found out. “ we think it’s quite humorous – the fact that Canadians want to present one of their landlocked areas as having a coastline” said Sheelagh Caygill. A large proportion of the people of Northumberland were said the be honoured rather than being put out. saying that for Canada to use their scenes in their own video must mean they are really good.

A rather more defensive response was given by Ottawa government when Bailey announced his findings to them. It was used only to “symbolise the fact Albertans are a worldly people” argued a spokesman.Tom Olson who looks after media relations for the Prime Minister suggested “There’s no attempt to mislead here. The images were utilised because they represented the tone and mood that we were after.”

Statements suggest that the footage will remain in the promotional video but there will now be a credits section that thanks the Northumberland Tourist Board. It goes without saying that many are embarrassed about the revelation and just prey is blows over before long. Among other promotional packs that Canada has recently released include one detailing Alaskan cruises so there will surely be people keeping an sharp eye out for passing flamingos in the Alaskan cruises video

How to choose a car hire company

Car Hire Considerations

Choosing which car hire company depends on a lot of factors and often the determining factor is location or opening hours. The next determining factor for many companies is who do you have an account with. Finally which rental company has the car that appeals to you. Finally the determining factor may be price.

Do not choose the cheapest headline price without looking at the extras. Work out the total cost to see which is the cheapest. Inclusive rates are likely to appear the most expensive but actually work out the cheapest when the rental is concluded. The inclusive rental includes necessary items such as insurance, CDW, mileage, theft protection, location surcharges and tax.. In this example if each km cost 20p and you did not take any other items such as insurance, if you drive more than only 32 kms it is cheaper to have all inclusive!

Booking through a car hire broker is likely to be cheaper on rentals more than a couple of days but the rentals have to be prepaid. Here again there are differences which you may wish to consider for instance Holiday Autos charge 100% cancellation fee whereas cheap-car-rental charge a cancellation charge equal to just one days rental.

It is very important that you consider insurance. It maybe your own insurance will cover driving a hire car but it may only be a limited cover and the car rental company may well require a larger deposit. You should also check the cover provided and consider carefully the options given by the car rental company as an accident, particularly for car hire in USA and car hire in Canada could be very, very costly.

When collecting your rental car it is important that you inspect it for any damage. The paint work should be checked but also remember to check the interior, the tyres and low down where the car might have hit a kerb. If you spot any defects report them to the check out staff and ensure that they are marked on both your copy and the car hire firms copy of the agreement. Failure to do this is likely to result in your being charged for damage caused by the previous hirer. Something you would wish to avoid.

We hope you enjoy using your rental car!
