Holiday And Home Security

Nothing is more stressful, disappointing, or downright sickening than returning home from a hard earned vacation only to find that your home had been robbed.  Burglary is a common thing these days, with burglary around the home occurring quite frequently.  When you go on a vacation, you shouldn’t have to worry about the condition of your home security.  Your vacation should be relaxing, without having to worry about anything.  If you plan ahead before you go on your vacation you can help to minimize the risks of anything going wrong.

One way to fend off burglars is by hiring a house sitter.  A house sitter is one of the best ways to get rid of any type of trouble as well.  All you need to do is find someone who will swing by your house a few times a day, check on things, and turn the lights on at night. If you have animals at your house, you may want to hire a house sitter to care for your animals as well as your home.  In most cases, peace of mind is worth any price.  If you decide to hire a house sitter, you should always make sure that you choose someone reliable who you can trust while you are away.

In the event that you are unable to get a house sitter, you should strive to make it appear as if someone is living in your home.  To be on the safe side, you can have a neighbor whom you trust keep an eye on your home.  Whoever you choose to watch your property should have a number to contact you with in case something goes wrong.

You can buy various timers or burglar alarms and such that will make it appear as if people are in your home.Radio timers and light timers can go a long way in making criminals believe someone is at your house. You’ll also want to consider your lawn before you leave as well.If the grass is too high, people will wonder if anyone is home.  You should always cut it before you leave, and have someone else cut it for you if you are going to be gone for more than a week.

You’ll also want someone to pick up your mail as well.If the mail starts to pile up in your box, criminals will know that you aren’t home.  Even though you may not be on vacation for long, you should always make sure that your door is locked and that you leave the spare key with someone whom you trust who can keep an eye on things for you.

Think You’re Too Late For A Great Vacation? Think Again

You waited too long to book your Spring vacation. Maybe you were short on cash, or you had a lot of unexpected expenses pop up, or maybe a combination of both. Now it’s March and you haven’t booked anything yet. Never fear because you can book a last minute cruise deal and have the vacation of a lifetime for less. You may be wondering how that's possible. How can you book a vacation late and still save money? Don’t you usually have to book a vacation early in order to take advantage of special deals? Well, generally yes, that’s true; but with last minute auckland harbour cruise deals, you’ll be rewarded the sooner you are to the departure date.

It Works Like This

When a cruise ship begins to sell tickets, it will usually offer a special price. Let’s say this is called a Bahamas cruise deal and they’re selling an interior room for $499 per person (based on double occupancy). However, that cruise never fills up. As the date gets closer, more than half of the rooms are still available. This will cause the cruise ship to drop the price even further to offer a last minute cruise deal. That means that many families will be able to secure the vacation they’ve been looking for all for much less than they would’ve normally paid. So what are you waiting for?

Should You Wait?

What if it's in January or February and you're planning an April cruise. Should you wait and just hope that you'll be able to take advantage of a last minute cruise deal? What if the cruise ship fills up before then? It would be better to pay for the cruise ahead of time if you have the money. Then, as the date approaches, contact the cruise line and ask if you can have an upgrade as part of a last minute cruise deal. This happens often. You could have picked an interior room and, because they weren't all booked up, you could have that room upgraded to a balcony room or even a suite as part of a last minute cruise deal.

The moral of the storey is that you should always call the cruise lines as the cruise departure date approaches because you never know what kind of last minute cruise deals they may be offering. You could end up saving loads of money on the best vacation you've ever had.

How To Prevent Motion Sickness On Your Cruise

Cruises are ruined all over the world by people suffering from motion sickness. motion sickness can present itself in lots of different forms and levels of severity but its safe to say that it is always unpleasant when it does happen. It can bring your holiday to and end pretty quickly and make you want to walk home. So what are the best ways to prevent you luxury cruise being ruined?

1.) Position of your cabin. When you book your cruise, tell the agent that you suffer from motion sickness and they will locate you cabin nearer to the centre of the ship. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on gentle river cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.

2.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been used to combat travel sickness for thousands of years. Its natural ingredients minimize the gag-reflex response signals that are sent to the stomach from the brain and will help to stop you being sick. You may however still feel a little nauseous as ginger doesn’t prevent this.

3.) Walking about. It sounds simple but it really can work. One contributing factor to sea sickness is the fact that the boats movement is alien to our brains. If you stay upright and walking around the boat for a while you will start to get your ‘sea legs’ and your brain will start to understand the movement and you’ll feel better

4.) Motion sickness tablets. This is a very popular technique that is often the best method for reducing nausea. The sickness tablets work to reduce the brains receptiveness to movement and therefore act to minimise the amount of dizziness and nausea it feels. This also means however that they may make you a little drowsy, so mind which activities you take part in when you’re on them. You should take motion sickness tablets ideally a couple of hours before you start the cruise to allow the ingredients to get into the blood stream. This will prevent your travel sickness from getting a chance to build up at all.
